1:00 am - Comic Ideas

Hey all,
I'm a writer that writes lots of different stories from comics, mangas and novels.I've got lots of story ideas and I was hoping I could find some wonderful artists to create them into some real life comics.
My plan is either to put them on a site caleld capsulecomputers.com.au that I have some connections with and we would put the comic/manga in it's own section to advertise it to the thousands of viewers that come to the site. The other plan is make the comic great and al then send it out to every comic publisher we know:D

Anyway I have LOTS of story ideas
If you're interested in the least check them out: auraredwood.livejournal.com/tag/story idea :D
and I hope someone would like to go on this little journey with me :P

-Aura Redwood

p.s. I edited this post so if the comments don't make sense....that's why :P

10:23 pm - Post-apocalyptic retrofuture

Hey everyone! I am so excited about this comic I've been doing lately and I wanted to share. It's set in post-apocalyptic NYC in the year 2003 and is called Angel. It's inspired by 70s and 80s action movies/comics. I was inspired by the feeling of being a kid and seeing these movies that are like "In the year 2010 when humanity has been decimated by...." and you're all "wow! 2010 is so far away!" But, you know, it's not. So it's like 75% tribute, 25% poking fun of these various tropes. It's totally meant to be ridiculous, know it's ridiculous, and still be ok with being ridiculous.

Anyway. So far, it's been a page a day, M-F on my website. I'm past page 50 now, so enough to give you a feeling and good run-in for the story if you start from the beginning. It'll keep being updated M-F until it's finished (I'm guessing 150+ pages total).

2:39 pm - The Escape (Working Title)

Hey guys

Behind the cut I have a story I'd like to turn into a graphic novel.

It's pretty original and I reckon it'd be an independant hit once released. I need a writer who'd be up for joining forces with me and penning out a decent few first chapters, etc.

The first animated episode of The Flowfield Unity is out in the wild. You can see it below, or HERE on Youtube.

It's based on the strip 20 Deaths a day.

But which do you prefer... static webcomics or moving images?

9:23 pm - Darling I'm Dying

Hoping to increase the readership for my LJ based comic darlingimdying.

I wouldn't say I've reached the point of making it an 'artform' yet, but there's been steady progress over the last five years, and if it continues that way, then perhaps I'll get there one day.

I'm very much motivated/encouraged by knowing somebody is reading it, so if anybody would be kind enough to add it to their LJ Friends lists, then I'd be extremely grateful.

8:40 pm - Printers printing darker than expected.

I got my comic back from Ka-blam and it was a bit darker than I expected. I had a proof printed at Kinkos and it was also darker than it had been on my screen. I sent the files to Ka-blam anyway thinking that since they told me how to set up my me file that maybe it would be lighter when they printed it. It wasn't. Which leads me to believe that my moniter is displaying the colors lighter than they are. I'm going to add a filter layer in photoshop over the pages to lighten them but I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem. If so how they dealt with it.

1:00 pm - Y- concept design

I am the production designer for an upcoming film project. (See below.) We're entering the pre-production phase & I'm interested in getting some input from artists on the concept designs. This wouldn't necessarily be something with a very high workload, (unless if it really works out and you want to get more involved in other areas of the production.) Upfront I'm going to say it's for credit. If you're interested in collaborating, drop me a line at jamescurcio@gmail.com

In a post-apocalyptic world, Y is a documentary-style reality show where the grand prize is the future of our species on planet Earth. Mythos Media and FoolishPeople will join with DPRGRM/Pilotlite to create 'Y', a feature film that starts shooting in Los Angeles July 2009.

LOS ANGELES, CA 02/27/09 – DPRGRM/Pilotlite announced a project today that forges a new path in independent cinema by bringing together real world experience and film in a unique way. 'Y' brings an audience inside the creation of a modern myth. The audience will become actual cast members, and be immersed in the story in real time. The film crew will also be part of the story as well as part of the cast, therefore creating a total immersive experience that bridges the traditional proscenium of audience/performer.

The ambitious staging and shooting technique is enhanced by the premise that in the future, government facilities, such the as one depicted in this film, will have to turn to unorthodox means of funding, such as contracting the facility out as the subject of a reality based TV show. The actual crew will be made up of news, reality and documentary style cinematographers and the production will be filmed entirely in the Cinema verite style.

Written by John Harrigan and James Curcio, and directed by Joseph Matheny, Y is a unique production fusing characters from Curcios second published novel, Fallen Nation: Babylon Burning and Harrigans screenplay GraveLand, currently in pre production.

DPRGRM will finance and distribute the film, working alongside online media corporation Pilotlite, a joint venture between Joseph Matheny and Michael Mailer Films.

Joseph Matheny, founder of DPRGRM and Pilotlite co-founder says: We will be employing cutting edge production, post production and distribution techniques that have been gestating for several years while the technology caught up to the vision. We chose this project and this team specifically because the project lends itself to the medium and the people can keep up.

James Curcio, Creative Director of Mythos Media, says: Mythos Media was founded specifically to work on projects like this, and modern myths have been my life passion. I am eager to dive in and create this world, both as production designer and producer of the soundtrack. However, even more, I am eager to collaborate with all of the creatives that are already lining up to become a part of this truly one-of-a-kind project.

John Harrigan, Artistic Director of FoolishPeople comments: Members of FP and I are extremely excited to be working on a project with such a talented and unique team. 'Y' will redefine what is possible in film production and I'm looking forward to taking on the role of Performance Director.

About Y: Civilization has fallen. In the rubble, we at the Y Corporation have developed the ultimate solution to save society: the Y Show. We encourage all good citizens to sign up for the Show.

You will be housed within a wonderful Haze Treatment Facility and undergo unique psychological treatment, which will clear away the illness of individuality. This reprogramming will be broadcast to the eyes and ears of Citizens in our New World, populated with previous contestants and patients. This is a reality show unlike any other!

There is a secret that haunts Haze01, the original treatment facility. Two patients, locked deep within its walls, contain archetypes that reject all reprogramming. They channel portents and omens of another future, a world where myth and divinity remake reality, manifesting a planet fit for Gods. In this season of the Y show, the doctors of the facility make their final attempt to process these two patients, before they break free and unleash total anarchy. Tune in.

1:05 pm - Dat Williams Page 7

I just finished this page, I think its my best so far. What do y'all think of the use of ink, hatching and cross hatching, in the same page as such obvious photoshop effects? Some panels have fills, some are totally void of such fills, etc...

10:27 am - The Adventures of Dat Williams page 3 of issue 4

This is the 3rd page.

Starting next week I'm going to go to 2 pages a week. This page has elements of an incantation of the muse but you'd have to read the series from the begining (at datwilliamscomics.com) to get how or why.

12:18 pm - My latest work

Here's the newest page of a comic I just started. This is page four.

A new comic - page 4

I started this as a way to learn a bit more about using the tablet and also to make myself do longer pieces. I'm making it up as I go on both counts!

More pages every day (and the few previous pages thus far) can be found on my website. I'll be doing this story for at least the month of February and after that until the story is done. Just thought I'd share.
